Holy Apparition
Independent Project
Project Motivation
“Holy Apparition is a concept that is inspired by the need to capture the mysticism of personal growth as a young adult. Nurturing a higher self through embracing the unknown has been crucial for me as a creative, challenging me to trust myself and leaning into the holiness of grappling with the truth that the only constant in life is change.”
Project Inspiration
My inspiration for this project was catalyzed by the vintage nightgown that I’m wearing. I saw it in a vintage shop and immediately visualized the shoot. Defining my goal often comes with utilizing multiple medias, even if it is just for pre-production inspiration. Florence and the Machine’s album “dance fever” was both musically and visually a large inspiration.
Once i bought the dress and gathered inspiration I headed to the craft store to retrieve supplies to make a headpiece. Florence Welch embodies a mystic and angelic energy that plays between pagan and religious ritual to evoke feelings of divinity through her physical and musical expressions.

Refined Direction
Inspiration: Free spirited, loose light fabrics. Florence Welch, Stevie Nicks- 1970s mysticism.
Wardrobe
I decided on including colored green-yellow lighting in order to emulate the mystical and witchy theme I wanted to carry. This aura was executed with the lack of sunlight and the single diffused light. The positional lighting aided in creating a distinct - yet sinister or eerie characterization of the subject.
Lighting
When it came to the subject material of the shoot, incorporating symbols of pagan ritual like mirrors, tarot cards
